Reliant Home Care Services Family Care

Family Care

Caring for a young child or adult with unique physical or mental challenges is often a lifetime commitment. Few parents ever think twice about providing that care, but everyone does reach a point where they simply need a break. This doesn’t mean you’re failing your child, sibling, or other loved one. It means you’re human. It means it’s time to ask for help. And help is out there, if you know where to look. That’s where Reliant Home Care comes in. We can provide you with that help or direct you to the resources that can.

Our family care services include pediatrics, teens, and adults. As with all of our care services, every individual we work with is given a customized plan of care designed to address their unique needs.

Pediatric Care Resources

Pediatric Care

Caring for little ones with special needs requires special skills. If you’re a new parent, you may quickly feel overwhelmed as you learn not only how to parent but how to provide the unique care your baby needs. Bringing in a home care specialist who can help you during these adjustments can relieve a great amount of stress. You’re already likely not sleeping much with a newborn, so having someone else help, even if it’s just for a few hours a day, can give you time to rest and recharge.

Even if you’re not a new parent, you may need help. Your newest little one may have a challenge your other children didn’t. You might feel like you’re failing because you don’t know everything about the challenge they’re facing, and you may not be confident in your ability to deal with it. Having a home care expert there with you can help you learn and fully understand how to give your little one the best care possible.

The skilled staff at Reliant is able to assist parents with a wide range of illnesses, including chronic illnesses. We will provide skilled care to infants, children, and teens as needed, giving you time to take care of the rest of your household and your own health.

Caring for Adults

While adults may spend their entire lives dealing with a particular mental or physical challenge, it’s also possible they will develop one or more health conditions as they age. When this occurs, it can come as a shock. Suddenly, your able-bodied adult child, spouse, parent, or other loved one can’t do everything they once did with ease. This not only can lead to the individual getting depressed and struggling emotionally, but it also impacts your entire family. Young children may not understand what’s going on, while older kids and other adults may find their foundations rocked.

Adapting to being a caregiver in addition to your other roles in the family isn’t something you can do overnight. It’s also something you don’t need to do on your own. Even if you don’t have other family members or friends who can step in, you can always call in Reliant’s team of caregivers. We will develop a plan that your loved one is comfortable with and takes some of the stress off you. These services can include helping your loved one with daily tasks, taking them to doctor’s appointments, or providing respite care periodically.

How We Work at Reliant Care Vert

How We Work

Getting help shouldn’t be difficult, nor should it be a long, drawn-out process. When you reach out to work with Reliant, we want to make the process easy, but we also want to be certain we’re providing the right type of care. All of our care programs are customized for each patient, so every individual receives a personalized care program.

To do that, we first begin with an assessment. We will answer any questions you may have and then schedule an in-person meeting at your loved one’s place of residence. At this meeting, we will answer any additional questions and walk everyone through the process, making certain your loved one is heard and is completely comfortable with all decisions.

During this visit, we will also do a home safety assessment. We will walk your home looking for things such as loose rugs, steps, and other areas that could be safety hazards. We have plans for addressing these common risks, and often, they can be mitigated with a few simple changes or additions to your home such as handrails or rug tape.

Next, you meet with the care coordinator. Here, you will build a detailed plan of care. This plan includes how often a caregiver comes to help your loved one, what the caregivers will do, and other information. The care coordinator will provide a very thorough explanation of every step of the plan. We want to let your loved one know that they and their home will be respected and treated with the utmost care and respect.

This is an extra meeting that some providers skip by rolling it into the home assessment, but we believe it’s important that you work with a professional expert throughout the entire process. It’s also important that you and your loved one have some time to absorb information and think about your needs. We don’t want to rush anything or put any extra pressure on you, so it helps to split these tasks up.
