About Us

A mission to serve

Our Beginnings

Reliant Home Care Services started as a dream: Patrick Rose wanted to help people. His dream started when he took several years off working in the mortgage industry to care for himself. Patrick had been diagnosed with MS, and during his time off, he started volunteering at the local senior center. During that time, he became close friends with an older man whose wife was struggling with dementia. Through their conversations, Patrick learned about the challenges that come with being a caregiver and how many people turned to in-home care for help.

As he met more and more people with similar stories, Patrick made a decision: he was going to help people struggling with disabilities. In 2013, he approached his wife, Carrie, about creating an in-home care provider. In 2014, Reliant Home Care was born.

Patrick was passionate about helping everyone, but he specifically felt a need to be an advocate for veterans. Veterans often face the challenge of dealing with both a physical disability and PTSD or other mental health conditions related to combat. This makes them a uniquely vulnerable demographic, and Patrick focused much of his energy on serving them. Carrie, too, is passionate about helping veterans after seeing what family members who served have gone through.

After Patrick’s passing in 2020, Carrie continued to serve the community through Reliant. Today, we provide in-home services for a wide cross-section of our community. Whether you’re a new parent who has a child with a disability or an elderly person facing a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s, we can help. We’re here as a resource to anyone who needs care, no matter their age or their diagnosis. Some people who reach out to us just need to talk to someone who understands and who can point them toward the resources they need.

Reliant Home Care Services Helps All

Our Mission:

Reliant Home Care’s mission is to serve as an advocate for those with special needs regardless of age or affliction. We work with caregivers and their loved ones to develop customized treatment plans that may include everything from help with daily activities to transportation. We also provide respite care, giving caregivers the time they need to focus on their own health and lives, and help medical professionals connect with medical centers and offices in need of temporary workers.

Respite Care for Seniors

The Reliant Difference

What makes Reliant different from other in-home care providers? We know there are many provider options out there, many of which have highly qualified caregivers on staff. What we offer that’s different is understanding. Many other caregivers are in this line of work because they want to help people, but they’ve only experienced caregiving in a professional sense. They have knowledge of what it’s like to be a family caregiver, but they’ve never been in that position themselves.

Carrie served as Patrick’s primary caregiver for years while raising their children. She took on this role without a second thought, as many family members do. However, like many, she also walked into the role without fully understanding what being a caregiver involved or what resources were available.

As Carrie says, “I took it upon myself to be a primary caregiver, but it was a lot. If I had known what resources were available, it would have made a huge difference. If somebody would have come to me and said ‘let me help you,’ it would have greatly reduced the stress we were under and the toll that stress took on us.”

Now, through Reliant, Carrie is in a position to be an advocate for those who may not have a strong voice themselves. She can provide the necessary support in whatever way is needed. She understands what you’re going through because she went through it. You don’t have to hide your frustration with the system or your anger with what you’re dealing with because she’s been frustrated and angry, too. She knows what being a caregiver entails.

This first-hand knowledge gives us insight into what caregivers and their loved ones need. It fuels us to provide the care and the resources that will truly make a difference. That’s why every care plan is individualized and can be modified at any time as needed. No one person or situation is the same, especially when it comes to facing the challenges that come with disabilities or long-term diseases. You and your loved one can’t be put in a box, and we won’t try to do that. Instead, we will sit down with you to determine what care is needed and where we can help.

We Fight for You

When you choose Reliant as your in-home care provider, you’re choosing a partner who will fight for you. We know that getting help, especially financial help, is often a challenge. There are many roadblocks you may face, but we will be there with you every step of the way. We have built strong relationships with numerous local and state agencies, and we will leverage those relationships when needed to help you. For example, Carrie often drops in at the local VA office when someone needs something. People there know her, and they know what she stands for. That often opens doors more easily than numerous phone calls or emails.

We have also built up a large list of resources over the years that we can pass along to you. It’s easy to get buried under the sheer number of online resources, and getting help over the phone can often lead to being transferred multiple times without ever getting to the right person. We cut through all of that. We will provide you with the information you need or find that information for you. We’ll help you cut through all of the red tape that can drive you (and us) crazy.

If there’s something we’re unable to provide, we likely know who can and can make that introduction. We’re not here to get rich—if we can find a resource that’s a better fit for you, we won’t hesitate to provide it. We want you and your loved one to have the best care possible, even if that’s not with Reliant.

If you have questions about resources or would like to set up a meeting to discuss your loved one’s in-home care needs, please contact Reliant today.
